Motability Enhances the Transitional Package

The Minister for Disabled People, Penny Mordaunt, announced that Motability customers will be able to keep their vehicles for up to eight weeks after their Disability Living Allowance (DLA) payments cease, as opposed to the three weeks that was allowed previously. The rules have also changed for people who are going through the process of appealing their PIP decision or going through the mandatory reconsideration.

Punishments Increase for Serious Speeders

From today (April 24th) the maximum fine that can be issued to those sentenced for speeding by the Magistrates’ Court will increase from £1,000 to £2,500. This means that fines issued to the most serious offenders will increase from 100% of their weekly salary to 150%.

Financial Help With 'Toxin Tax'

The Prime Minister, Theresa May, has hinted that the owners of older diesel vehicles which do not comply with the Euro 6 emissions standards, will be given financial help to lessen the impact of the charges that they may have to pay to enter some of the ultra-low emission zones in London and a number of other cities around the UK.

Telematics System Saves Parking Fine

Rosarie Roberts managed to get her son's parking fine overturned after she showed the relevant parking company evidence recorded by the in-car 'black box'. The system showed that her son had been issued a fine less than a minute after he had entered the car park, therefore he hadn't been given reasonable time to display a ticket.
