Statistics from the DVLA show that male drivers are six times more likely than female drivers to receive a driving ban. 400,000 men have been disqualified from driving over the past four years compared to 66,272 women.

According to a study conducted by the car insurance comparison site, confused.com more than a fifth of UK motorists have reported that driving over speed bumps has caused damage to their vehicle. Local councils awarded a total of around £35,000 to motorists following these claims in the two year period between 2015 and 2017.

Shaun Helman, a Chief Transport Scientist working at the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL), has suggested that certain road signs should be painted on the pavement so that destracted pedestrians who are looking down at their smartphones can see them.
