'CLICK' Road Safety Campaign

Posted in General News on Thursday, March 21st, 2024

According to road casualty statistics, in 2022, 30% of all road traffic deaths among 17–24-year-olds were a result of somebody not wearing a seatbelt. With this statistic in mind the government has launched the ‘CLICK’ road safety campaign to encourage young motorists to wear their seatbelts. Taxi and private hire vehicle companies such as Uber are supporting the campaign and will be implementing direct messages to their passengers reminding them to put on their seatbelts. Roads Minister, Guy Opperman, said: “We know how important wearing a seat belt is, reducing the risk of death for drivers in a collision by 50%. This campaign is part of the government’s plan to make our roads even safer and aims to make clicking in a seat belt second nature to young men, who currently run the highest risk of death or serious injury – reminding them that a simple CLICK can save lives.”
