DVLA Vehicle Tax Campaign: Tax It, Don't Risk It

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency’s (DVLA’s) latest campaign targets those trying to evade their vehicle tax with a focus on the areas of the UK where the highest numbers of untaxed vehicles can be found. The Agency’s message is clear; if you do not tax your vehicle on time action will be taken, ‘Tax It, Don’t Risk It.’
London is the worst affected area as there are 97,013, Birmingham was second on the list with a figure of 52,073 and third on the list is Manchester with 28,703 untaxed vehicles on the roads. As well as automated enforcement penalties to registered keepers of untaxed vehicles, the DVLA’s enforcement teams and wheelclamping partners will travel across the UK to take action. Most vehicles on UK roads (98%) are correctly taxed. The DVLA says that untaxed cars are hard to hide and easy to tax. For those that continue to break the law consequences can include financial penalties, court action clamping and even the loss of a car. DVLA Chief Executive Julie Lennard said: “This campaign has a clear message for anyone that delays or avoids taxing their vehicle. It really has never been easier to tax a vehicle, from using our 24/7 online service to direct debit options. We want motorists to understand that’s it not worth taking a risk and always tax their vehicles on time.”

Although I do not own a vehicle I do depend on a car to take me to hospital and doctors as I am suffering from memory, alzheimers dementia mixed leading to progressive neurologic disorder. I appreciate and thank you

That's all well and good but a pity they don't put as much effort into getting peoples renewal of driving licences the same priority. They have had mine eight months now and still waiting. They are a shambles - you can't phone and you can't get them on the internet. Oh, of course, I forgot, there's no money in it for them. Silly me!!
