Blue badge in London
Different rules regarding the use of the Blue Badge exist in four London Boroughs. The borough also run their own schemes for the resident or those who work in the borough.
Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea - Purple Badge
City of London - Red Badge
Camden Borough - Green Badge
City of Westminster - White Badge
BLUE BADGE HOLDERS CAN PARK:
BLUE BADGE HOLDERS CANNOT PARK:
- Red routes or double yellow lines (in all four boroughs)
- Single yellow line (except Kensington and Chelsea as long as there is no loading or unloading restriction and only for 20 minutes to drop off or pick up a disabled person, or to collect goods)
- Suspended parking bays
- Residents parking bays
- Personalised disabled bays
- Specific bays e.g. doctor, taxi etc.
Red Routes
- There is no exemption for Blue Badge holders during the operating hours of Red Routes.
- There are bays set aside for parking for Blue Badge holders, but they may only operate during certain times.

Red bays indicate that parking or loading is only permitted during off peak times.

White bays indicate that that parking and loading is permitted at any time.
Congestion charge exemption
If you have a Blue Badge or you are using a vehicle that is 100% exempt from paying road tax (classed in a disabled class) you do not have to pay congestion charge.
A disabled person using a vehicle exempt from paying road tax does not need to register. The number plate will be automatically recognised by cameras in the Congestion Charging Zone.
Blue Badge holders MUST register first with Transport for London and pay £10 administration fee.
