Sophia’s First Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle

12-year-old Sophia Magee is a wheelchair user who lives with her 9-year-old sister Zara and mum Emma. Having recently taken delivery of their first WAV, Allied Mobility sat down with Sophia’s mum to find out why they chose Peugeot Horizon™.

Finding Sophia’s First WAV

Emma explained one of the most important considerations in choosing Sophia’s WAV was the seating layout:

“The main thing we wanted was Sophia sitting in the second row with her sister.”

Based on the family’s needs, their dedicated mobility consultant, Ryan, brought Horizon™ to their home for a free, no-obligation demonstration.

“After trying Horizon™ out, it was definitely what fitted our needs,” Emma explains.

Benefits of a Horizon™

Discussing how much Sophia’s new WAV has impacted the family’s daily life, Emma says, “It makes life so much easier and it's much more comfortable for her.”

As well as a range of fantastic accessible features, Horizon™ offers style and comfort for wheelchair users and able-bodied passengers alike. Sharing her favourite features, Emma tells us,

“It's a lovely car, but my favourite feature is the heated steering wheel. As soon as I get in and press that button and feel the warmth in my hands - it just makes my day!”

Why Allied Mobility?

Emma concludes, “From the minute I phoned Allied Mobility, they were extremely helpful, very friendly and very easy to chat to.”

Volkswagen Vista™ Sets the Scene for the Turrells

A keen member of theatre group Chickenshed, Charles Turrell is no stranger to the stage. To get him to rehearsals safely, his mum, Carol, knew it was time to switch from a standard car to a WAV.

Choosing Vista™

The duo, from Epping, decided on Volkswagen Vista™ after meeting Karen, one of Allied Mobility’s expert mobility consultants at a Motability event. Based on the pair’s needs, Karen arranged a free home demonstration of Vista™. “The home demonstration was very useful, Karen showed me how to use the ramp, the hoist, where to put the restraints onto the wheelchair and how to secure the chair safely in the car,” Carol explains.

With newfound confidence in how to use the WAV’s accessibility and safety features, Carol decided to place an order, “It’s a good vehicle for us. I feel safe and the vehicle is economical and easy to drive.”

Indeed, Vista™ puts safety and convenience at the forefront with an electric-assist winch coming as standard and an innovative SpaceLite™ wheelchair ramp making access in and out of the vehicle a breeze.

A New Start

When delivery day came Carol couldn’t help but smile, “I actually feel the change to this new vehicle is giving Charles and I a better, new life.”

Delighted with their decision to switch to a WAV, Carol describes their experience of finding a disability car with Allied Mobility:

“Allied Mobility, amazing, absolutely amazing! Friendly people I feel have changed my life and Charles’s life for the better.”
