New 0% branding includes THINK! drink-drive messaging on pub equipment and t-shirts worn by bar staff, to provide pub-goers with an in the moment reminder to opt for a 0% drink before getting behind the wheel.
Heineken’s ‘Star Pubs’ chain is rolling out new 0% branded merchandise to 400 of its pubs from late November through to the end of the year. James Crampton, Corporate Affairs Director at HEINEKEN UK, said “When you are driving, Heineken 0.0 is the ideal alternative to your alcoholic drink. People can still be part of the round, with a pint or bottle in hand, and importantly be safe to drive – for themselves, their passengers, and other road users.”

Dealing with the aftermath of drink driving is not for the faint hearted as any 999 responder will tell anyone that will listen. Unfortunately apart from the 17-24 yr olds there exists a hardcore of older drivers who will never stop. A large M/C hitting a crowd at over a 100mph culminated in 2 dead and 12 seriuosly injured. The M/Cyclist was high on drink and drugs. As a mere PC the grotty work was left to me, all the court stuff went much higher. A middle aged Professor, who drove around my neighboours garden, although on his third disqualification for drink drive and once again way above the limit, was fined and disqualified again, no prison. Basically until the Courts adopt the attitude of the sentence befits the crime, the problem will continue. Perhaps IF young drivers and the hard core were forced to do service at A&E dealing with the aftermath, explaining to a wife that her innocent husband and father of her children wont be coming home. or maybe handling the arm that has been ripped off etc, although the danger of macho man, most would I feel be so shocked they migh t think before they indulge in drink drive.
