Posted in General News on Friday, August 23rd, 2024
Please consider these closures when planning your journey.
National Highways' overnight closures usually start from 10pm and finish by 5.30am Monday to Thursday and from 11pm Friday to finish by 6am on Saturday. Please note that these can change depending on the volume of traffic and when they can close the road safely.
B2039 Ockham Road North
Their closures on the northbound B2039 Ockham Road North will be reinstated on Tuesday 27 August and will remain in place until Sunday 29 September for the completion of the utility and carriageway widening works on the approach to the Ockham roundabout. Ockham Road North will be closed in one direction between Guilleshill Lane and the Ockham Roundabout 24 hours a day during this time.
The diversion will be via Ockham Road North then left to Forest Road then left to Old Lane and then left to the A3 South and then back to Ockham roundabout.
A3 Southbound off slip lane reconfiguration
From Wednesday 28 August the lane configuration on the A3 Southbound where drivers exit for Junction 10 M25 will be changed from two lanes to one to allow for the carriageway widening of the slip road. Work to widen the carriageway is expected to last for 8 weeks. Once complete, the slip road will revert back to two lanes. The left lane will be dedicated to access the M25 anticlockwise towards Gatwick and the right lane will be dedicated to access the Junction 10 M25 Gyratory for all other destinations.
On the approach to this exit, National Highways urge drivers to be prepared to change lanes or allow other vehicles to merge to maintain traffic flows.
To facilitate these changes, they will be closing the A3 South from the A245 Painshill to the M25 J10 overnight on Tuesday 27 August between 10pm and 5.30am.
The diversion will be via the A245 towards Cobham and turning left to the A307 towards Esher, at the Scilly Isles roundabout turning right to the A309 Kingston Bypass towards the A3 Hook Junction.
At the A3 Hook Roundabout take the 2nd exit to the A243 towards Chessington and Maldon Rushett. At the M25 J9 motorway traffic can join the M25 in either direction. Non-Motorway traffic will continue along the A24 to the Givons Grove Roundabout taking the 2nd exit to the A246 towards Guildford. At the Clandon Crossroads turning right to the A247 and rejoining the A3 South at Send.
On Thursday 29 August National Highways will be closing the A3 North bound from the B2215 Ripley to the M25 J10 for realignment of the traffic management to create a safe working zone for the construction of a central reservation bridge pier.
The diversion will be via the B2214 to the A247 to Send taking the 3rd exit to the A247 towards Clandon. At the Clandon Crossroads traffic will turn left to the A246 towards Leatherhead and to the Givons Grove Roundabout the 2nd exit to the A24 toward the M25 J9. Traffic for the motorway can join the M25 in either direction at this point. Non-motorway traffic will continue along the A243 towards Malon Rushett and Chessington to the A3 Hook Roundabout taking the first exit to the A309 Kingston Bypass. At the Scilly Isles roundabout taking the first exit to the A307 towards Esher and Cobham. At Cobham turning right to the A245 to the A3 Painshill Junction where they can rejoin the A3 North.
Traffic at the Ockham Round about will use the B2215 south through Ripley Village to Send turning left to the A247 and following the main diversion route as above. Wisley Lane traffic will use a local diversion route via Wisley Lane to Pyrford Road onto the A245 through to Painshill.
Roadworks on the A245 Continue
To ease the congestion around our works on the A245, the A3 northbound off slip at Painshill has been closed. This closure will remain in place until the end of November 2024 whilst they continue with their works in this area.
The closure of the A3 northbound off slip at Painshill helps to improve the eastbound traffic flow along the A245. To also ease the traffic flow in the area changes have been made to the sequencing of the traffic signals on all sides of the Painshill roundabout to favour the flow eastbound on the A245. National Highways apologise for the inconvenience this is causing. Further information on this including answers to your many questions can be found here.
All their closures coincide with other ongoing improvements on the network including the installation of additional emergency areas on the M25 J23-27, M25 J5-7, M4 J10-12, M3 J2-4a and M20 J3-5. More information about these works can be found here.
They will do all they can to keep disruption to a minimum, but there may be delays at peak times, so they encourage you to plan your journey.
