National Blue Badge Day of Action is a Success

Posted in General News on Friday, June 14th, 2024

This year’s Blue Badge Day of Action, organised by Lambeth Council, was a fantastic success with a record total of 142 councils taking part, up from 82 the previous year. There were also 10,040 badges inspected compared to 5,145 in 2023. In addition, there were 423 offences detected, 182 badges seized and 394 PCNs issued.

While these statistics show the effectiveness of the National Blue Badge Day of Action, they also highlight the fact that Blue Badge abuse in misuse continues to be rife. Therefore, we urge local authorities and police forces to do as much as possible to tackle the issue all year round. DMUK Chief Executive Graham Footer said: “We are proud to support the National Blue Badge Day of Action each year and it is fabulous to see so many councils taking part this year. DMUK would like to see more councils get involved next year and we encourage them to do so. The results speak for themselves. The Blue Badge Scheme is a crucial lifeline for disabled motorists, and we hope these results encourage councils to continue tackling the issue of Blue Badge abuse effectively.”
