Posted in General News on Monday, February 20th, 2023

Durham is one of the safest areas to drive in England according to research conducted by the International Drivers Association. The research showed that Durham had the lowest number of speeding offences with an average of just 0.95 per 1,000 people each year. Derbyshire was found to be the second safest area with 1.24 speeding offences per 1,000 people. At the other end of the scale, the data found that Lincolnshire has the highest number of speeding offences with 5.43 per 1,000 each year. Over the years examined on average, there were 4,164 offences committed each year in Lincolnshire, although in 2020 there was a decade high 6,734 drivers caught breaking the speed limit. Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson from International Drivers Association said: “Speeding is dangerous. Roads have speed limits for a reason, and they are limits, not targets. All drivers should stay within the limits to reduce the likelihood of injury-causing and fatal accidents.”

Smart Motorways are dangerous too but still they insist in installing them. Then again there's no money in deaths on smart motorways like there is in speeding fines.
