Global Business Accessibility Initiative
Posted in General News on Thursday, May 20th, 2021
Some of the world’s largest companies have joined the Valuable 500 initiative which aims to make businesses more accessible to disabled people. The founder, Caroline Casey stated that businesses around the world are missing out on a total of $13trn by not being accessible to disabled consumers. Caroline Casey said: “As we move out of this pandemic and we need to recover, why would any business look at leaving $13trn on the table?" The reason the initiative is called the valuable 500 is that its purpose is to get 500 international companies to place disability inclusion on their board agenda. So far companies which have 20 million staff and combined sales figures of $8trn have joined the Valuable 500 including Coca Cola, Apple, and BP.
