Face-to-Face Assessments to Resume for Health and Disability Benefits

Posted in General News on Wednesday, March 31st, 2021

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced that face-to-face assessments will resume for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and all other health and disability benefits in May. At first this will only apply to claimants that the department cannot assess fully using paper of telephone-based assessments.
Claimants will be invited to their assessments via letters which will clearly explain what they should expect when they arrive. Face-to-face assessments for PIP and Work Capability assessments (WCAs) will be conducted alongside paper-based and telephone assessments where suitable. The DWP has worked with its assessment providers to make sure that they comply with the most recent COVID-19 safety guidelines. They have taken various safety measures including sanitisation, PPE and face coverings and social distancing.

The department’s safety practices and guidance will be kept under review to make sure it continues to follow public health guidance.

More information about the resumption of face-to-face assessments for health and disability benefits can be found at www.gov.uk.
