Health and Disability Benefit Update from DWP

Posted in General News on Tuesday, July 7th, 2020

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has stated that face-to-face assessments relating to health and disability benefits will continue to be suspended due to the Coronavirus pandemic and this temporary measure will be kept under review. Starting this month, reassessments and reviews for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Disability Living Allowance (DLA) will gradually resume.

Paper based assessments are still being carried out for new claimants and telephone based assessments will be used when required as a temporary solution. With this in mind, the DWP would like to encourage people to make a claim if they believe they are entitled to health and disability benefit support. In addition, the DWP is still asking existing claimants to inform them if their circumstances change. The DWP has said that in the cases where the claimant has already returned paperwork they may be contacted by an assessment provider if needs be.
