Older Learner Drivers Quicker to Pass Tests

Posted in General News on Friday, November 15th, 2019

New research conducted by the car insurance provider, Adrian Flux shows that, on average, older learner drivers pass their driving tests more quickly than younger drivers. In response to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) provided statistics relating to the pass rates of learner drivers in the UK and the amount of time it takes them to pass their test. While 67% of learner drivers between the ages of 25 and 34 pass their driving test within 12 months and for those between the ages of 55 and 64 this figure rises to 76%. The research also revealed that 51% of learner drivers between the ages of 65 and 70 pass their test within 6 months compared to only 16% of those between 16 and 24. Dan Clark, Product & Underwriting Development Manager for Adrian Flux said: “While the findings are fascinating, it doesn't change the fact that learning to drive can be one of the most testing and exciting experiences in life. So no matter how old you are or how long it takes you to pass your driving test, it's all worth it in the end.”
