Benefits System will Change in Scotland

Posted in General News on Thursday, August 15th, 2019

Disabled people living in Scotland will have more choice over how they apply for disability benefits when the Scottish government takes responsibility for running the application process in 2020. The Scottish government has promised that when they take control of their disability benefits system away from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) next year, applicants will be able to apply online for the first time. Scotland’s Social Security Secretary, Shirley-Anne Somerville commented: “The online application option together with our commitment to an improved assessment service puts people’s wellbeing first and will greatly improve the experience of people in Scotland who need Disability Assistance."
