DVLA System Maintenance

Posted in General News on Tuesday, August 7th, 2018

Due to necessary system maintenance, most of the DVLA’s online services, as well as the contact centre, will be unavailable from 3pm on Friday 17th August until 6am on Monday 20th August. This means that drivers will be unable to tax their vehicles either online, by phone or at the post office during this time. However, the DVLA advises that if your vehicle tax runs out at the end of this month you will still have time to renew it on the Monday when the service will be running again. The DVLA is keen to point out that certain services will still be available while these upgrades are being completed. Customers will still be able to view and share their driving licence details with third parties and they will also be able to renew their photocard licence at the post office.

Please keep in mind that it is illegal to drive an untaxed vehicle on the road. Therefore, if you purchase a car during the weekend in question you will not be permitted to drive it until after 6am on Monday 20th August.

The DVLA would like to apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.
