Overnight A34 Northbound Closures Planned Near M3 Junction 9

Posted in News on Tuesday, September 15th, 2026

Drivers using the A34 northbound near Winchester are being advised of a series of overnight closures taking place this week as part of ongoing works around M3 Junction 9.

The A34 northbound will be closed between M3 Junction 9 and Three Maids Hill overnight from Tuesday 15 September through to Saturday 19 September. The closures are required to allow vegetation clearance to take place safely.

Drivers affected by the closures are being advised to switch off their satnav and follow the signed diversion route. The diversion has been designed to accommodate all vehicle types, but drivers are warned that satnav systems may attempt to direct them onto unsuitable roads or back onto sections of the network that are closed.

The overnight closures are part of the wider improvement works taking place at M3 Junction 9. National Highways has previously warned that road closures associated with the scheme can change at short notice, so anyone planning to travel in the area is advised to check the latest information before setting out.

Live travel information is available through the Traffic England website, while National Highways also provides a daily road closure report and travel alerts covering incidents and restrictions across its network.

Drivers are also reminded that planned works can be postponed at short notice because of poor weather or other circumstances outside the control of the contractors.

Anyone travelling on the A34 during this period is therefore advised to allow extra time for their journey, follow the signed diversion and check for the latest updates before setting off.
