Autonomous Vehicles Safety and Accessibility Consultation

Posted in News on Wednesday, June 17th, 2026

The Government has launched a new consultation on the safety rules that will govern the future use of self-driving vehicles on UK roads, marking another important step towards their wider rollout.

Running until 9 September 2026, the consultation seeks views from the public, road safety groups, other organisations, industry representatives and local authorities on the standards self-driving vehicles must meet before they can be approved for use. We are of course aware that the accessibility of these vehicles is also crucial and we encourage you to take part in the consultation to help shape the future of accessible transport.

Please see a link to the consultation below.
