Important roadworks information - M11 northbound and southbound between junctions 7 and 10 resurfacing
Posted in News on Wednesday, June 3rd, 2026
Drivers using the M11 should be aware that emergency resurfacing work is continuing on another section of the motorway, with overnight closures planned between junctions 7 and 10 throughout June.
According to National Highways, the road surface along this stretch has become worn and damaged in several areas, with cracks, grooves and loose material developing across multiple lanes. To address these issues, crews will carry out resurfacing work, refresh road markings and replace worn road studs, commonly known as cat’s eyes.
The work is scheduled to take place over seven weeknight evenings, beginning on Wednesday 3 June 2026. Working hours will be from 9pm until 5am, weather permitting.
National Highways has apologised for the short notice, explaining that operational challenges had delayed the continuation of the emergency repairs. The organisation says completing the work now will help improve road conditions and provide safer, smoother journeys for motorists.
The scheme forms part of a wider programme of essential resurfacing works being carried out along the M11 corridor. Further information on future closures and diversion routes is expected to be released once plans have been confirmed.
