THE ON-STREET PARKING CONCESSION

  • The holder can park on single or double yellow lines for up to 3 hours in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, except where there is a ban on loading and unloading, a  few locations where local schemes apply, i.e. parts of central London
  • There is no time limit in Scotland
  • The holder must wait for at least one hour after parking before they can park on the same stretch of road
  • Holders can park for free and for as long as they like where on-street parking meters apply and in designated disabled parking bays, unless a time limit is specified

PLACES THAT NEED TO BE CHECKED BEFORE PARKING

  • Always check signage when you are parking off-street, the concession doesn’t automatically apply
  • City of London, Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea, and parts of Camden run their own concessions, but they do have a number of bays for Blue Badge holders. For a full list request a copy of the ‘Pie Guide’  by calling 0844 847 0875.
  • On Red Routes you can only stop to set down or pick up the badge holder, you are not allowed to stop at all in bus stops on Red Routes. More information can be found by calling 0343 222 3333 or by visiting www.tfl.gov.uk

PLACES WHERE YOU CANNOT PARK

  • Where loading and unloading restrictions apply, look for yellow lines on the kerb
  • Where parking is reserved for permit holders;  pedestrian crossings; clearways; bus stop clearways during hours of operation; urban clearway within its hours of operation; school ‘keep clear’ markings during hours shown on a yellow no-stopping plate; during times of loading bans; bus , tram or cycle lanes; double white lines in the middle of the road; suspended meter bays; temporary parking restrictions are enforced.
  • Where parking would endanger, inconvenience, or obstruct pedestrians or other road users. If you do your car could be removed by the police.
